VCRA SELECTS “RACE FOR AUTISM” CHARITY RECIPIENTS.. The following schools have been chosen to receive donations from the 2016 VCRA ANNUAL “Race For Autism” fund. As always, this could not even be possible without the continued contributions of our great sponsors and the overwhelming support of our VCRA and Greatrace participants and supporters that allow us to continually reach our charity goals!! You have made it possible to make life a whole lot better for thousands of kids affected with autism..and for that, we thank you!!

The schools chosen this year are as follows..more details to follow as the official presentations are made by our VCRA representatives.

The Lionheart School in Alpharetta, GA - $25,000.00  www.thelionheartschool.com

Founded in 2000, this 501C3 non- profit organization has made significant progress using best practices for working with children with autism. All programs continue to be integral parts of “Lionhearts For Life”, which involves the community in preparing students for post-school success and future employment placements. Also key in our selection was the fact that Georgia has a very large contingent of VCRA racers who have continually supported VCRA..those of you that follow this sport will recognize these folks..Chad & Jennie Caldwell and Beth Gentry & Jody Knowles of Newnan…Billy Cothern from Cumming..David Haverty out of Dunwoody..Todd Merrill, Alpharatta, Taylor Merrill, LaGrange and John Hausmann from Johns Creek…might have missed someone, but you get the point..if not for the generosity of folks like this, this would not be possible. So thanks to you all!

Paths To Independence in Bartlesville, OK - $9,000.00 www.pathstoindependence.org

A 501-C3 organization that was established to provide service to children with autism and their families. It is an accredited PK-12 private school structured to provide instruction in all areas including communication, social skills, recreation and, of great importance, independent living.

F.A.C.T. in Virginia Beach, VA - $6,500.00 www.camp4autism.org

Founded nine years ago, this 501-C3 this program supports hundreds of kids with autism, especially children of military families. We see it as our responsibility to assist them with an ongoing support system as they continue their excellent work.

Highland Park Central, Topeka, KS - $1,000.00

This is a pilot program for VCRA as it is a public school that is in dire need of sensory items to support the children there that are affected with autism. Sadly, the public schools system does not see fit to support their needs…so, we agreed to lend a helping hand.
