2014 All Stars for Autism Donations

THE 2014 “VCRA RACE FOR AUTISM” program has again been blessed by the generosity and kindness of our many racers, sponsors, friends and supporters. As of this year we will surpass the $500,000 mark in total donations since 2006. As VCRA has pledged, ALL proceeds are donated to selected autism schools, educational programs and institutions in need from the many requests that we receive annually.  After a full vetting process of these requests, we are pleased to announce the three recipients of this year’s donations:

The Paths To Independence is a 501C3 non–profit corporation that is dedicated to providing educational and support services to children and adults with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, they are set up to provide instruction in all academic areas, communication, social skills, recreation and independent living. The goal is to have a life-long view of education, promoting functional independence from a young age. VCRA will be donating funding in the amount of $20,250.00 to purchase three Smart Boards and five I-Pads to assure all students will have adequate training devices in all classrooms, and make an immediate positive impact on all students.

The Hope Kids Outreach is a 501C3 non-profit organization located in Muskogee, Oklahoma,  that was founded by a group of parents, who are teachers, behavioral health professionals, and advocates for children and families with extra challenges. They provide a special needs tutoring program, fine motor activity, gross motor activities and a socialization group. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for children and families experiencing developmental, emotional and behavioral challenges. VCRA will be donating $14,100.00 to purchase two Smart Boards, two I-Pads,  one each of a Physic Gymnic Balance Balls, Jump-o-Lene, Somatron, Talking Pen & Jr Ball Chair. This will allow the expansion of another class room to increase student attendance.

The Families of Autistic Children of Tidewater (FACT)  is a 501C3 non-profit organization that VCRA has an ongoing relationship with. Located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, their mission is to provide social and recreational programs for students with autism spectrum disorders, and specifically reaches out to children of military families with financial needs. VCRA is donating $5.000.00 so they can continue their special work in this area.
